About Me
Ilena Osma, LCSW
Licensed Psychotherapist
Hi There! I'm Ilena.
I'm a clinical social worker and psychotherapist fully licensed and insured to treat clients in New York State and Florida. After graduating with a BA in Behavioral Science, I attended the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College where I obtained my master's degree. Prior to opening my private practice, I spent many years working in a psychoanalytic institute in New York City. Being able to provide affordable psychotherapy to all people brought me tremendous satisfaction as a clinician. To this day, I offer a sliding scale for a limited amount of people without insurance and or funds to support weekly therapy.

On a personal note, I take immense pride in my family. My partner and I met during our early college years, and together we have two remarkable children. Each of them are on their unique life journey, including marriage and starting families of their own. I also became a grandparent, which has brought unparalleled joy to my life.
In my free time, I am an avid enthusiast of cooking, with a special passion for clean eating.
If you're seeking an understanding and experienced therapist who values the importance of your individual journey, I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

My Approach
My treatment modality is psychodynamic oriented which draws attention to unconscious thoughts and feelings, as well as how our past experiences affect our present day functioning- especially in our current relationships. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice to help find healthier ways of perceiving ourselves, others, and circumstances by finding the connection between thoughts and behaviors.
My philosophy and approach to therapy involves warmth, honesty, and directness. My goal is to enable you to feel safe enough to explore the obstacles that might be preventing you from living your best life. I work towards encouraging an atmosphere of openness and trust in which you can feel comfortable expressing your feelings or thoughts freely.
The role I play is to help you gain insight and perspective into the challenges you are experiencing. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck or conflicted about your life, sexual identity, relationships, or career, I will work with you to understand underlying feelings and experiences that are interfering with leading a fulfilling life. I have a supportive, non-judgmental, and responsive style that facilitates personal growth.
I truly love what I do and feel honored to work alongside others on their journey towards becoming their best selves.
I bring humor, insight, understanding and commitment to my work.
