My Approach

My philosophy and approach to therapy involves warmth, honesty and directness. I bring humor, insight, intuition, understanding and commitment to my work. I truly love what I do and feel honored to work alongside others on their journey towards becoming their best selves.

I believe people appreciate my interactive style, and my use of questioning, exploration, and humor. My goal is to enable you to feel safe enough to explore the obstacles that might be preventing you from living your best life. I work towards encouraging an atmosphere of safety and trust in which you can feel comfortable to freely express feelings, thoughts, experiences.

My role is to help you gain insight and perspective into the challenges you are experiencing. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck or conflicted about your life, sexual identity, relationships, or career, I will work with you to understand underlying feelings and experiences that are interfering with leading a fulfilling life. I have a supportive, non-judgmental and responsive style that facilitates self-exploration and personal growth.

I look forward to hearing from you so we can work together to identify your main concerns and goals for therapy.

What is the Therapeutic Process?

Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling provides a supportive environment to explore feelings, relationships, and challenges.

Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy. We explore various issues in your life that have contributed to your current emotional state and set of circumstances. Part of this process includes examining patterns of behavior, exploring your strengths and developing new coping mechanisms. Through the therapeutic process you will generate self- awareness and an emotional understanding of the impact your history has on present day attitudes, motives and beliefs. This awareness will lead to improved decision-making and the ability to be your best self.

Working through complex issues with a warm, nonjudgmental, and supportive therapist is instrumental to the process. Through this collaborative process, you will gain a better understanding of your strengths, areas for improvement, and your impact on others. Therapy will help you develop better coping skills to handle difficult feelings, improve your interpersonal relationships, and then incorporate new behavior patterns in your daily life. Therapy can increase self-confidence, help change problematic patterns of behavior, and improve communication.
